Abstract :
With ever more new radiocommunications technology appearing over the horizon, many public transport operators are finding that a return to traditional thinking for “conventional” systems does perhaps still offer some real advantages over the newer alternatives. The level of public scrutiny often levied on such organisations demands that essential aspects such as safety, operational efficiency, resource management and low risk investments are all areas which must be reflected in any public transport operators decision to buy the correct solution. This paper describes one such operator who´s immediate criteria could be adequately covered with the conventional approach utilising current standards, proven technology, approved equipment, features and facilities already in existence and confidence in the suppliers ability to modify the system thereby meeting the users exacting needs
