Title :
AVL´s reliability engineering process for engine development
Author_Institution :
AVL List GmbH, Graz, Austria
Abstract :
AVL´s reliability engineering process for combustion engine development is presented. Besides some of the well-known methods FMECA, Weibull analysis and reliability allocation, this process comprises a number of innovative approaches, in particular reliability charts for continuous reliability monitoring and a warranty cost prediction model. These methods are covered in detail. A timing chart is provided to show when these methods are applied in the course of the engine development process.
