Abstract
The configuration of star-like wire arrays is used to control the imploding plasma flows. Implosions in star-like wire arrays with two close located wires ("gates") instead of a single wire on the inner cylinder are studied. The goal of the experiments is the modeling of conditions for hydrodynamic and transparent modes of implosions in wire arrays. Results show that imploding plasma flows can be deflected by the off-center wires forming a rotating pinch. Colliding plasma columns can be formed and studied in stars with gates. Implosion of external cylinders can be used for controlled formation of the precursor in the wire array. Transparent and hydrodynamic modes can also be studied with star-like wire arrays.
