Abstract :
This paper is concerned with the problem of electromagnetic (nanosecond) pulse propagation through inhomogeneous medium in an oil/gas borehole vicinity. A new modification of an electromagnetic tool with slot apertures pulse excitation (AE sonde) is developed for geophysical prospecting of horizontal oil/gas boreholes. Two- and three-dimensional (2D and 3D) mathematical models of the AE sonde are presented. The geometrical configuration of an aperture excitation sonde embedded in the stratified medium is shown. To simplify the analysis the tool´s surface and the geophysical environment are modelled as a planar stratified dissipative medium
