Abstract
Three ideas are presented to improve the performance of a Cold Cathode Fluorescent Lamp (CCFL). Two of these describe practical solutions to lower the normal cathode fall and thus increase the lumen efficacy. The third idea refers to a new structure of hollow cathodes that enables a current increase of a CCFL by about a factor of 2 to 3 and good life expectancy.
