  • Abstract
While the gravimetric energy density is continuously growing up by the battery manufacturers, the embedded systems designers have to consider a lot of issues to fulfill the power consumption requirements. Wireless sensor nodes (WSN) are typically equipped with a battery, sensors and communication devices. The use of WSN and their design benefits from the development of the communication protocols and the generalization of radio standards. Manufacturers propose their own WSN platforms using radio transmission for a lot of different applications. According to the low speed improvement of the energy density of the batteries, developers are concerned about how to reduce the overall power consumption of the systems they propose. To reach this goal, many techniques can be used at the design. This article discusses some of these techniques and describes their practical implementation in the case of multi-sensors reconfigurable platforms.
