Abstract
IOTs have been broadly used in the UHF range for broadcast, science and industrial applications. It was initially thought that IOTs would not be able to maintain their well-appreciated properties, such as efficiency and linearity, while operating at frequencies above 1 GHz due to the transit time limit. However, since a growing number of particle accelerators requests 1.3 GHz amplifiers as RF power sources, an investigation was conducted to determine the possibility of manufacturing L-band IOTs. Detailed operating parameters of prototype and beta version will be presented in the paper.
