Abstract :
The dielectric properties of poly(vinylidene fluoride) (PVDF) films stressed in a near-breakdown field from 10-1 Hz to 10 -5 Hz have been measured, using a picoammeter connected to a microcomputer. Nonlinear dielectric behavior in PVDF films in the frequency range below 10-2 Hz is observed. The experimental results are compared with the results obtained by Hamon´s method. The nonlinear dielectric behavior is explained in terms of the electrode polarization of ionic carriers. The field cleaning effect was found to play an important role in the ultra-low-frequency range
