Abstract :
In this paper, we consider energy-efficient transmission schemes and data compression to minimize the energy consumption of correlated lossless data gathering in TDMA-based wireless sensor networks. An important aspect of this work is the fact that the energy considered for minimization is the energy consumed not only by the transmitter power amplifiers but also by the transmitter and receiver circuits during the period of transmission. We formulate the energy consumption minimization problem as a non-linear convex optimization problem and find the optimum transmission structure in terms of source coding rate, transmit power and time slot allocation for an interference-free TDMA-based MAC scheme.
