Abstract :
The utility of surface potential measurement in ageing studies of polymers is demonstrated. Three materials were studied: an antistatic coating, a PVC (polyvinyl chloride), and an ABS (acyrlonitrite-butadiene-styrene). Climatic and mechanical ageing studies were carried out. The electrostatic measurements presented demonstrate the power of the two parameters α and Vr , which allow a precise characterization of the thermodynamic history of numerous dielectrics
