Abstract :
A great deal of effort has been devoted to the adoption of “Japanese” manufacturing methods: cells; JIT; Kanban and the rest. The majority of British manufacturing companies have adopted these techniques to some extent; many have virtually no activities planned and managed on any other basis. This paper is about creating value and reducing cost by simplification, focused performance improvement and targeting progressive product development over a period of years
