Abstract :
The climatic conditions in permafrost regions on the Earth, on the whole surface of Mars (average temperature of surface -60°C) and possible other planets enable freezing moisture, reduce loss tangent in the soil and allow one to hope on the possibility of subsurface radar probing the soil of the planet. A variant of a method of radar probing the surface of a planet, based on registrations of reflected radiowaves in the broad range of frequencies and calculation of experimental data of the frequency dependence of the reflection coefficient is discussed by Andrianov (1992). As an example the Cauchy problem of radiopulse reflection has been considered on models with a dielectric permittivity ε(z) as function of depth (“soil layer on the halfspace”).
