Abstract
Experimental results on nonlinear surface acoustic wave (SAW) waveform measurements are reported. A sampling optical probe with the spatial resolution 1.3 μm and the bandwidth 1.5 GHz has been used to observe SAW in single crystal LiNbO3 plates at the input frequency 200 MHz and input power up to 25 W. Breakdown of sine wave into several pulselike signals per period has been observed. Head-to-head collision of two SAW wave packets with duration 500 ns has also been studied. The waveforms are shown to be preserved in collision
