Abstract
Teaching network address translation (NAT) application in firewall is a challenging task, because students need to realize the knowledge of IP address, NAT mechanism, and firewall principle. In order to promote understanding of firewall among the electric information specialty students, this paper describes an experiment training concerned with stalling and configuring NAT server to support network firewall. For understanding IP address translation in NAT server, protocol analyzer is used in the experiment to view the network packets through NAT server while inner network host communicates with external network host. An usability test was conducted, and a questionnaire showed that the experiment training is effective.
