Abstract
Clad metallic buffer rods are fabricated for in situ ultrasonic monitoring of polymer extrusion and graphite/epoxy composite curing processes. These rods are made of steel and aluminum. Both 5 MHz longitudinal and shear wave measurements with self-referencing capabilities are carried out in the reflection and/or transmission mode. Monitoring results during polymer extrusion and curing process of graphite/epoxy composite in an autoclave with the use of these clad rods are presented
