Mount Wutai, the Holy Land of Buddhism in China, which was added to the World Heritage List in recent years has retained a large number of Buddhist statues from the Tang Dynasty to the present day. However, since the creation year of most of the statues has not been effectively distinguished, their value judgment and the follow-up conservation works are directly affected. Based on field investigation and through the combination of material object and literature, this paper comprehensively analyzed the time characteristics of existing statues around Mount Wutai, initially summarized the creation year and preservation experience of main statues, and generally concluded their preservation status and distribution situation.
