Abstract
This paper deals with the optimization of a fuzzy controller for an overhead crane. Since this fuzzy controller has six inputs and one output, the total number of the fuzzy rules is very large. Those rules were reduced by using cooperative fuzzy control, and the membership function was adjusted by a method of improved GA. We obtained an optimized fuzzy controller and proved that this controller has a certain robustness and that it is possible to work if the number of fuzzy rules are few
