Abstract
This paper presents an investigation on a high-performance speed control of a switched reluctance motor in digital signal processor real-time control environment. The fully digital control consists of an inner loop of PI+PWM current control, a PI torque loop controller and an outer PI speed loop controller. The nonlinear instantaneous torque was estimated on-line from a pre-stored look-up table of measured static torque, where phase current and rotor position were the input parameters. The experimental results have shown good step speed responses, good speed tracking ability, and fast responses to load application and load removal.
