Abstract
The author highlights the key elements of the economic analysis process and the business case methodology used in a R&D institution (AT&T Bell Laboratories) for justifying the development of the Integrated Services Digital Network (ISDN) technology. The economic analysis and the business methodology described are generic and can be used for developing investment strategy by any company globalizing its business. Applying these approaches will lead to better investment strategies and improved business performance
