Abstract :
This paper proposes a novel and simple method of estimating a road surface by means of a road noise. The noise is measured with an IC voice recorder, and a Bayesian estimator decides a sort of surface based on the noise. It is assured that the estimator works well on actual cars which run on dry asphalt, wet asphalt, turf, and so on.
