In order to improve the road safety of highway in the highlands, taking traffic engineering, psychology and other theories as the foundation, the paper investigates the road alignment, operating speed of passenger cars and the drivers´ psychological and physiological reactions of the Qinghai-Tibet Highway, explores the relationship between the operating speed of passenger cars and the drivers´ psychological and physiological reactions on combined sharp horizontal and vital curves section and the alignment design parameters based on the on-the-spot investigation data, and carries on quantitative analysis using the method of multivariate statistical analysis, establishes an operating speed model for passenger cars on combined sharp horizontal and vital curves section of highlands based on drivers´ psychological and physiological reactions. The establishment of this model provides important theoretical basis for the selection of humanization highway route design parameters of highlands.
