Abstract :
As communication networks play an important role in today´s life, network reliability becomes more critical than ever. Traditionally, network reliability is measured by connectivity or traffic volume. However, most of performance degradation problems are correlated with routing dynamic and congestion. It is necessary to include the both routing dynamics and congestion into network reliability computation. This paper proposes a new framework to compute the reliability. In this framework, the effects of multiple facts such as routing dynamics, traffic pattern and congestion probability are investigated. The reliability based on the proposed framework provides a new way for network operator to evaluate the performance of the IP network.
