Abstract :
A method aiming at the generation of optimal overhead lines is presented; it is implemented in a computer program named SYNOPTRA. The optimisation refers to the right-of-way as well as to the number of pylons and their heights. Each overhead line generated considers the topology of the given area and strictly follows all the technical specifications such as the minimal distances between conductor and earth. Due to the complexity of the task, there exists no analytical method for solving this problem. This paper describes the application of a probabilistic method, an adapted version of the evolutionary algorithms, to the above mentioned problem and presents an approach to consider multiple objectives in this case “visibility”, approval ability and “costs” (“multiobjective optimisation”)
