Abstract
To tackle the problems associated with the field management of furniture production, a furniture production line simulation model was constructed. This model was implemented by employing United Model Language (UML) as the modeling tool and object-oriented software, EM-Plant, as the development platform. The simulation results were analyzed on the basis of the average processing time, machine utilization rate, quantity of products which are all vital in assessing the manufacturing performance. The significances of the analysis results are to find bottleneck problems in production lines and to design improved proposals to raise manufacturing efficiency and gross products, so that the resources of factories and workshops can be optimized. The analysis can also provide evidence for the managers to make their decisions.
