Abstract
Stator insulation failure continues to be a significant factor in determining the life expectancy of large, high voltage machines across a wide spectrum of industries. The early detection of electrical discharge activity in such machines continues to be paramount in avoiding catastrophic failures. A multitude of discharge detection techniques has been developed over the years and the purpose of this seminar is to review current practice for both on-line and off-line discharge detection and to consider the application of new techniques and strategies. Of particular concern is the introduction of standards into discharge detection and monitoring. This topic is addressed by a number of the papers
