Abstract :
This paper studies the Fermat number transform ,and proposes 1D and 2D invariance nature and cumulative nature of FNT(Fermat number transform), and combines with features of gray images, and establishes the encoding/decoding model for gray image and designs corresponding algorithm. The result show that the model proposed in this paper has good performance whose compression is about 87.93% of JPEG-LS. The coding model in this paper adopts a new theoretical foundation, and applicates FNT to gray image compression for the first time which can be improved and optimized greatly.
