Abstract :
An important requirement for the future ad hoc networks is to provide QoS guarantees for realtime multimedia application. Multipath routing can be used to provide route resilience, smaller end-to-end delay and better load balancing in Ad Hoc networks, while MPLS technology can provide QoS and traffic engineering in wired networks. By merging MPLS technology into multipath routing, a novel routing protocol, label switching multipath routing protocol (LSMR), has been proposed in order to provide QoS guarantees in Ad Hoc networks. LSMR can establish multiple node disjoint LSPs between source and destination and provide Ad Hoc networks with rapid label-based packet switching. Simulation results show that compared with AODV, LSMR can provide rapid packet forwarding while routing overhead is also decreased.
