Abstract
An observer of the strip tension in multi-drive systems is presented. The observer is based on modelling the strip tension as a differential equation driven by an unknown sequence of impulses. The approach allows the design of a simple observer, that does not require a complex model of the multi-drive system. Results of simulation demonstrate the improved performance that can be obtained with this approach
