Abstract :
A fault detection and isolation (FDI) design idea based on local models of a system is expounded. The method is intended to lighten the computational burden and to use more exact models in the course of model based FDI by taking advantage of a group of sample models. The idea Is illustrated with the FDI design process of an electronic control unit of automotive automatic mechanical transmission
