Abstract :
This work presents a scheme to automate conventional electromechanical reclosers used in the automation of the electric distribution networks. Actually, there are a number of options available in the Brazilian market to retrofit conventional reclosers. However, most of these systems are imported and have lower flexibility to configure and to operate the reclosers. The proposed system has a cost suitable to the reality of the Brazilian utility industries and leads a better utilization of the electromechanical reclosers actually installed. It is a result of a partnership between the Department of Electrical Engineering of the UFJF (Federal University of Juiz de Fora), LUPA Tecnologia e Sistemas Ltda and CEMIG (Minas Gerais State Energetic Company).
