Abstract :
This article proposes a new type circuit of Rotary Traveling Wave Oscillator, which using cascaded Pull-up and Push-down cells to compensate energy losses. The structure can not only avoid short-circuit power in conventional inverter-based oscillator, but also effectively control the rotation direction of the rotary oscillator. Both the circuit and EM analysis are carried out using TSMC 65 nm standard CMOS technology. HSPICE results show that, the proposed oscillator can save total power of 6.65% than inverter-based circuit with normal thick top metal, and about 25.97% power saving can be achieved by using the ultra-thick top metal.
