Abstract
With rapid development of modern society, congestion is becoming a serious problem puzzling urban traffic. And because of the complexity of its origin and evolution, classical urban traffic control system (UTCS) based on mathematical model is helpless when it occurs. The technological introduction of artificial intelligence is getting to be one hopeful direction to improve UTCS in congestion management. In this paper, a prototype of Knowledge-Based System for Congestion Monitoring and Diagnosing (KBSCMD) is implemented in G2 and test results on a typical congestion example are given.
