  • Abstract
The paper describes the principal characteristics of the "energy conservation strategies simulator-SECON Model" an important tool for planning actions of the "National Program Of Energy Conservation-PROCEL", in final uses field. First, the document presents some fundamental definitions about conservation. After this, the paper describes the structure of SECON\´s models: residential, industrial, commercial, economic analysis and ranking. The main part of the methodology consists in simulating the different strategies of some variables evolution (market, efficiency rates, acceptance, etc.) for later verifying of the conservation goals in "MWh conserved" in the medium/long terms. Once presented the set of programs to be developed, the system gives the priorities for the alternatives proposed as a function of the established criterias in accordance with the specialist\´s opinions. At the end, the paper shows some conclusions about the system use at PROCEL works, and gives some practical results with methodology application. In this way, SECON is an important instrument in demand management resulting from the final users of electric energy.
