Scaling of solid state pulsers to high peak power

The author describes how recent developments in avalanche pulse generator technology now make it feasible to consider designs for systems with peak powers in excess of 1 GW and average powers of several kW. Such systems can be used for ultrawideband radar applications and lend themselves to phased array beam control through simple computer controlled delay of may individual identical modules
