  • Abstract
    We describe in this paper a simple axially pumped Nd:YVO4 laser which achieves single transverse (and axial) mode behavior with a much larger mode diameter, and thus potentially larger power output, through the use of an unstable optical resonator design. We believe this approach has substantial potential for simple quasi monolithic axially pumped lasers in the medium power range
