Abstract :
In this paper a power system model for voltage stability studies is revisited. The synchronous machine field dynamics and voltage regulator is included in the original model. Besides that, the field overexcitation limiter is modeled. It is shown that the values for which the bifurcations occur can change significantly and the Hopf bifurcation detected in the modified model disappears if the damping is increased. Finally, it is shown that in this model, a voltage stability analysis based on the load flow equations, gives results close to the dynamic model.
