Abstract :
In this paper, a fully integrated monocycle pulse based impulse radio ultra-wideband (IR-UWB) transmitter designed and fabricated with SMIC 0.13-μm RF CMOS technology is reported for UWB application specified in China. The monocycle pulse is generated and binary phase modulated by all-digital pulse generator and modulator with low power consumption. A driver amplifier is followed to filter and further shape the pulses. Measured circuit performance achieves frequency band 4.2-6 GHz, pulse amplitude of about 270 mV at 100 MHz pulse repeating frequency.
