Abstract
A portable, computer based, time domain diagnostic system has been developed, including hardware and software. Accurate measurement of machine timing and fault simulation has been demonstrated. The method has much to offer in terms of providing a noninvasive method for obtaining knowledge of the operational state of a machine, such as a diverter switch from a transformer load tap changer, and provides possibilities for use in future programmed maintenance schedules. Data collection and analysis methods are given
