Abstract :
This paper presented a miniaturization rectangular waveguide which much smaller than hallow rectangular waveguide (HRWG) having same cutoff frequency of dominant mode and a large bandwidth of single dominant mode working (BWSMW) by inserting a suspended dielectric layer which partly covered a metal grounded plane. The numerical simulating shows that the cutoff frequency of dominant mode descended, while the first high order mode´s cutoff frequency changed slowly when the relative permittivity of the dielectric layer increases. The transverse section sizes of the presented waveguide is less than half of the HRWG with same cutoff frequency of dominant mode and much larger BWSMW which is 1.9 times of the ones of HRWG is observed in the studied case.
