Abstract :
The most important step in the development of mechatronics from components via subsystems up to complete high-performance systems was caused by the additional component of informatics to the classic synergetics between mechanical and electrotechnical engineering. The features of mechatronic systems are their flexibility by self sufficient single drive systems, their exact synchronous running by BUS-coupling including intelligent strategies in case of disturbances and the multifunctional use of its components like electric motors. These are explained by examples of magnetic levitated high-speed train systems and of textile- and packaging machines
