Abstract :
Several compact microstrip antennas have been investigated for personal mobile communication. These are broadly classified as configurations arising from shorting along the zero potential plane without disturbing the field configuration or by placing a shorting post to modify the field distribution for the desired size reduction. In the first category, experiments have been carried out on modified rectangular, circular, and triangular microstrip antennas. All these configurations as well as C shaped and sectoral antennas have been studied in the second category. A multiport network model has been used for the analysis of shorted rectangular and C shaped microstrip antennas. The theoretical results are in good agreement with the experimental results
