Abstract
Based on the cavity model of microstrip antennas (MPAs) and the principle of superposition, the distribution of electromagnetic field of loaded MPAs is analyzed in this paper. With the proposed theory, input impedance and resonant frequency for some loading cases can be obtained and some useful conclusions are given. Example of rectangular loaded MPA is illustrated and comparisons between calculation results and HFSS results have shown the efficiency of the method.
