Abstract :
Water and energy are critical to the economy in development countries. In Brazil, a narrow band with the amount of electricity production and hydraulic projects become this strong relation still more. A remarkable driver, sustainability, makes new investments strategies in financial projects. This paper summarizes currents experiences and points the future ones for the water management in power systems. It also displays the challenges and restrictions of the environment regulation regarding water resources, exposing some of the policies to rule conflicts in water demands.
