Abstract
An ad-hoc wireless network is a collection of two or more wireless devices equipped with communications and networking capabilities. Nodes in Ad-hoc networks rely on each other to send traffic to a given destination. If the destination node is not in radio range of the source, then in-between nodes in radio range of both source and destination will provide connectivity. Several routing protocols have been already proposed for Ad-hoc networks. This paper suggests a new approach to provide QoS routing. The suggested protocol ldquoSimultaneous Multi-Route QoS Routing (SMRQR)rdquo for ad-hoc networks will provide QoS through pre-reserved Bandwidth for voice and data sessions. Voice sessions will be given higher priority than data sessions. The protocol will attempt to simultaneously send traffic using multiple routes. It was proven that the suggested algorithm provides significant enhancements for Ad-hoc networks performance.
