Abstract :
There is a growing interest in using battery energy storage system (BESS), especially Vanadium Redox Flow Battery (VRB), in power system and smart grid. Usually, the usage of real VRB brings many problems. This paper looks into modeling VRB and designing a digital VRB simulator which is capable of simulating V-I characteristics of VRB with high accuracy. It has many advantages, such as low cost, easy to use, convenience to adjust VRB parameters and so on. Simulation and experimental results showed good performance and satisfied effect.
