Abstract :
The TV production process is now demanding shortened timescales and more flexible working arrangements. Connectivity is a key element in achieving these goals, providing an efficient means of moving and sharing material. This paper hopes to bring some of the realities of real and non-real time connectivity into the open, based upon the experiences of the Broadcast & Media Services development team at BT Laboratories. Technologies such as serial digital video (SDV), ATM and LANs are discussed, and potential problems for the delivery of real and non real time material are highlighted
