Abstract :
Nanobiophotonics is a promising technology for biomolecular sensing applications. Various silicon based two-dimensional (2-D) photonic crystal (PhC) resonators are characterized by using 2-D finite-difference time-domain (FDTD) method. The resonant wavelength of output spectrum is very sensitive to the absorbed biomolecules. Devices are designed and modeled in terms of resonant wavelength shift versus refractive index change of PhC area or a localized spot, i.e., the biomolecules-absorbed area.
