Abstract
We have developed an image array by taking digital roots of addition of single numbers. We have discussed its properties previously by Deshpande (1993). We have observed additional properties which are used in developing a digit controller. In this paper, modified image arrays are developed for image and data compression. Four bits are required instead of 6 bits to store 64 gray levels (numbers). We have developed a graphical representation and a simple computer program to obtain this image array. Lossy compression of 54% is shown to be possible for facial images with a SNR=32 dB
