Abstract :
Electrolytic capacitors are responsible for frequent breakdowns of static converters. To set a predictive maintenance, adaptive filter modeling based method is presented using LMS algorithm. Signature of changes in capacitance and effective series resistance (ESR) will reflect in capacitor ripple voltage because of aging; and these changes are monitored using this adaptive filter modeling to predict the future status of the capacitor using only the input current of the system.
