Abstract :
This thesis introduced the application of zinc oxide arrester on the 500kV line governed by Yichang. For the severely lightning disturbed 59# tower on the second 500kV single-circuit transmission line of San-Jiang, a simulation model was built with the ATP-EMTP software to calculate the lightning withstand level before and after the installation of line arrester. It maintains that the application of arrester is an effective lightning protection measure in transmission line considering the practical use of line arrester when running into operation.
